The rapid spreading of Monkeypox around the world has prompted the World Health Organization (WHO) to give a strong warning to the world that we are facing a global health emergency. Dr. Tedros, the head of the WHO, declared: “in short, we have an outbreak that has spread around the world rapidly.”.

“We have an outbreak that has spread around the world rapidly, through new modes of transmission, about which we understand too little,” Tedros said. “For all of these reasons, I have decided that the global monkeypox outbreak represents a public health emergency of international concern.”

This is the second time of such a level of declaration made by the WHO since the case of COVID-19, in 2020, and the seventh time since 2009 outbreak H1N1 influenza.

الانتشار السّريع لمرض جذري القرود في جميع أنحاء العالم، دفع منظمة WHO إلى إعطاء تحذير قوي للعالم مفاده بأننا نواجه حالة طوارئ صحية عالمية . أعلن الدكتور تيدروس ، رئيس منظمة الصحة العالمية: " باختصار ، لدينا تفشي انتشر في جميع أنحاء العالم بسرعة. "

According to reports citing WHO data, more than 16000 cases of monkeypox have been registered in 70 countries this year alone.

Some cases of children infection have been reproted in the USA and five (5) death have been registered in Africa and non have been seen outside the continent.

Report warns that men who have sex with men are the community at highest risk.

Currently, the global outbreak epicenter is located in Europe representing 80% of the infections and where the risk of contamination is highest while USA have reported 2500 cases spread around a large number of states.

وفقًا للتقارير التي تستشهد ببيانات منظمة الصحة العالمية ، تم تسجيل أكثر من 16000 حالة إصابة بجدرى القرود في 70 دولة هذا العام وحده.

تقارير جادة تحذر أيضًا من أن الرجال الشواذ - الذين يمارسون الجنس مع رجال - هم من الفئات الأكثر تعرضًا للإصابة بالمرض.

حاليًا ، تقع بؤرة تفشي المرض العالمية في أوروبا تمثل 80٪ من الإصابات وحيث يكون خطر التلوث أعلى بينما أبلغت الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية 2500 حالة منتشرة في عدد كبير من الولايات.

The Monkeypox disease causing virus (MPV or MPXV), see Image 2. and Image 3., is an Orthopoxvirus genus from the family of viruses Poxviridaea and is a double-stranded DNA genome based of the size of around 197-kb, see Image 9.
The Monkeypox viruse is a zoonotic virus which means it can be transmitted from animals to human through close contact.

Historicaly, this MPXV virus in endemic in quite a number of West and Central Africa countries. It was discovered in monkeys in the 1958 and the first human case of monkeypox disease was registered in the 1970.

The Viruses Database❇️, see Image 1., provides scientific data related to the Monkeypox virus including its Genomic sequences, protein/enzyme sequences, 3D-structures, Scientific literature (papers + abstracts) and some available Drugs against closer viruses like the smallpox virus.
